Frequently Asked Questions
What is the sample size?
For roasted coffee color, ~17-19 grams.
For ground coffee color, ~2-4 grams.
What's the difference between the A1 color measurements compared to Omix and Omni?
Both Omix and Omni utilize a CMOS sensor and near-infrared lighting to map a distribution using the color of every pixel across the entire sample. A1 uses a simplified approach that uses a single-point near-infrared sensor to obtain an average color of the whole sample.
The distribution histogram is useful for understanding the uniformity of your roast, while the average is useful for measuring consistency from roast to roast.
Which one you need depends on your intended use case.
